The Washington Literacy Center has been a cornerstone of adult education in Washington, DC for over 60 years. Founded in 1963 in response to the District's critical need for adult literacy education, WLC has grown from a volunteer tutoring initiative into a comprehensive educational institution serving adults who read below a fifth-grade level, immigrants building literacy in a new language, and adults with learning disabilities such as dyslexia.
